Guardly Privacy Policy
Guardly (“we”, “us”) is a Chrome extension that helps you take mindful breaks from social media. This policy explains what data we handle and why.
Data stored on your device
Settings, break timers, and local usage/break analytics are stored in Chrome’s extension storage on your device. This data is used to run the extension and is not sold.
Account & subscription data
If you create an account or subscribe, we process:
- Email address (and password credentials when you use email sign-in; passwords are handled by our auth backend and are not stored in the extension)
- A random extension install identifier used to sync entitlements
- Subscription / payment status via Stripe (we do not store full card numbers)
- Session tokens needed to keep you signed in
Google sign-in uses Chrome’s identity flow and our billing API; we receive your account email as needed to create or link your Guardly account.
What we do not collect
- We do not sell personal data
- We do not use your browsing history for advertising
- Site time tracking stays on your device unless you use account features that only sync subscription status—not your full browsing history
Permissions
Guardly requests access to Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter by default so it can show break overlays and track time on those sites. Additional sites you add require an explicit Chrome permission prompt. Identity permission is used for Google sign-in. Storage, tabs, scripting, and alarms power timers and overlays.
Third parties
- Stripe — payment processing
- Our billing/auth API (hosted on Vercel) — accounts and entitlements
- Google — optional OAuth sign-in
